We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lookdev Artist to join our team for the development of an exciting 2D animated feature-length project. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Greasepencil's capabilities and a proven track record in look development for animated productions. This role requires a strong artistic eye, technical proficiency in Blender, and the ability to translate conceptual designs into stunning visuals.

This position is for 10 weeks, starting in July 2025. 

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the Concept Artist and Director to translate and bring the approved visual style and aesthetic to life within Blender's Greasepencil, ensuring it is production-friendly and efficient for the project.

• Create and refine character, prop, and environment designs in Greasepencil, ensuring they meet the artistic vision of the project.

• Experiment with and establish rendering techniques, lighting, shading, and material properties within Greasepencil to achieve desired lookdev.

• Troubleshoot and problem-solve technical issues related to Greasepencil look development.

• Contribute to the development of efficient workflows and best practices for Greasepencil production.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Blender and Greasepencil.

Must Haves

• Production experience specifically in look development for animated projects.

• Demonstrable expert-level proficiency with Blender's Greasepencil feature set.

• Strong understanding of 2D animation principles, color theory, composition, and visual storytelling.

• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• A portfolio showcasing strong Greasepencil look development work is essential.

Bonus Points

• Experience with other 2D animation software or traditional animation techniques.

• Knowledge of scripting in Python for Blender.

Location

This position is remote - candidates based in Mexico are preferred.

However, exceptions can be made for exceptional candidates with the right skill set and experience.
